Diversity Visa

In response to significant worldwide challenges related to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Department of State has temporarily suspended routine visa services at all U.S. Embassies and Consulates. Embassies and consulates have canceled all routine immigrant and nonimmigrant visa appointments as of March 20, 2020. We will resume routine visa services as soon as possible but are unable to provide a specific date at this time. Please visit the Department of State’s Bureau of Consular Affairs website for notices which contain detailed information about the current status of visa services worldwide and visa restrictions related to the COVID-19 global pandemic.

Beware of fraud and scams. Some websites and emails attempt to mislead customers, posing as providers of official U.S. government information. Read our Fraud Warning here.

DV-2021 Program: Online Registration

DV-2021 Program: The revised online registration period for the DV-2021 Program begins on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at 12:00 noon, Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) (GMT-4), and concludes on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at 12:00 noon, Eastern Standard Time (EST) (GMT-5).  Individuals who submit more than one entry during the registration period will be disqualified.

Please view our video for an introduction to the Diversity Visa program, and step-by-step guidance to help you submit an entry. (Note: minor changes have been made to the DV-2021 entry form, but the instructions provided in the video are still valid.)

Applicants can access the electronic DV entry form (E-DV) at the official E-DV website, during the registration period. DV instructions also are available on the Department of State’s public website.

UPDATE:  The Department is temporarily delaying the opening of the Entrant Status Check for DV-2021 until June 6, 2020.  This change is because of our committed response to COVID-19, and will not negatively impact the administration of DV-2021.

DV-2021 entrants will be able to use their unique confirmation number provided at registration to check the online Entrant Status Check at E-DV website to see if their entry was selected. Entrant Status Check will inform successful entrants how to apply for DVs for themselves and their eligible family members. Successful selectees will be able to learn their visa interview appointments by checking the Entrant Status Check.
