U.S. Embassy Statement on the Annual U.S. Department of State Trafficking in Persons Report

The United States appreciates the close cooperation with the Government of Albania, civil society and especially National Anti-Trafficking Coordinator Elona Gjebrea on our shared goal of combatting the global phenomenon of Human Trafficking.

The State Department’s annual Trafficking in Persons report, which was released today, highlights several achievements and offers concrete suggestions for how Albania, the United States, and countries around the world can work to end the scourge of human trafficking.  These include increasing funding for NGOs, particularly shelters, providing additional training for Law enforcement to properly identify and investigate cases of trafficking, and improved judicial process for trafficking victims.
