“We the People” features citizen activists at Albania’s National Book Fair

The U.S. Embassy in Tirana participated in the annual National Book Fair with the theme “We the People – The Americans Who Changed the Course of History”. The Embassy pavilion showcased reading material, discussions, and information about studying in the United States.  Each day, participants of all ages learned about citizen activists who made a difference in the fields of education, the environment, journalism, sports and culture and human rights.  Deputy Chief of Mission David Muniz delivered remarks at the opening ceremony and led a discussion on the importance of education.  Many members of the embassy and Peace Corps volunteers were also part of this year’s activities.  The National Book fair is the largest exposition of Albanian language materials in the Balkans, drawing an estimated 100,000 Albanian speaking visitors from around the region.
