Ambassador Lu on the passing of Archbishop Mirdita

“Today we bid a fond farewell to a great friend of Albania, Archbishop Rrok Mirdita. Monsignor Mirdita served faithfully for 23 years as the Catholic Archbishop of Tirana and Durres. He was born in Montenegro, but was a proud American and served for most of his life as a beloved priest in the Bronx and Westchester, New York. It was his idea to build the St. Paul’s Cathedral in Tirana which he thought should have its unique triangular shape to symbolize the peaceful coexistence of Islam, Orthodox Christianity and Catholicism in Albania. We will miss our friend Monsignor Mirdita and thank him for his lifetime of devoted service.”
