Ambassador Arvizu Hosts Iftar Dinner

On July 18th, Ambassador Alexander A. Arvizu hosted the U.S. Embassy’s Iftar dinner, in honor of Albania’s Muslim community. World Bektashi Leader Baba Mondi, Chairman of the Albanian Islamic Community Skender Brucaj, Minister of Social Welfare and Youth Erion Veliaj, muftis from various cities and representatives from civil society were some of the distinguished guests of the dinner. During his remarks, Ambassador Arvizu said that the U.S. deeply appreciates the example that Albania provides to the rest of the world for religious tolerance, an example we hope can inspire people throughout this region and the world to put aside their differences and find respect amongst disagreement. “The freedom to worship and to practice one’s religion peacefully, are powerful reminders of the traditions our two countries share,” highlighted Ambassador Arvizu, before AIC Chairman Brucaj offered a prayer over the food to break the fast.
