ACT NOW Coordinator Discusses Corruption in Albania with Foreign Languages High School Students

On January 28th, as part of the Embassy’s Speakers Bureau program, the ACT NOW Coordinator Elizabeth Barnhart had a very stimulating presentation with students of the Foreign Languages High School on Corruption and its effect on the society.  Her presentation laid the ground for an interactive discussion with students on the causes of public corruption, and its political, economic, and social consequences.  Ms. Barnhart noted that corruption impedes democracy and the rule of law, and encouraged students to play their role as responsible citizens to refuse paying bribes, speak out and report corrupt practices for a brighter future for Albania.
